A Spiritually Balancing Moon Ritual

This ritual is meant to be performed within three days of a new or full moon in order to access the moon’s full energy. Remember, a ritual done without intention will cause adverse effects.

Mindful awareness teaches us that when we look at the U-N-Iverse, the U-N-Iverse is also looking at us. The stars, the grass, the cars, and the person next to you are all fueled by the same kinetic energy. The energy of Spirit; manifests in the way of perfectly balanced creation.

The Moon is the part of the UNIversal connection that reminds us of our emotions. The Moon is illuminated by the Sun’s light in the same way that actions can illuminate our feelings. The Moon helps to bring awareness to our shadow selves by being our figurative and literal light in the darkness. We are ever changing and growing in sync with the moon and it’s phases. The moon reminds us to be ever flowing like the tides of the sea that are affected by its current. Essentially, the Moon tells us where and how to go.

A New Moon signifies new beginnings, a clean slate, a redefinition of purpose, and a full heart chakra. Likewise, a Full Moon signifies completion, fertility, abundance, and transformation. The energy that each phase of the moon brings directly correlates with the cosmic alignment in that moment. For example, a Full Moon in its Gregorian astrological season of Leo, may illuminate our self expression and wants and reminds us that we deserve to take up space. As opposed to a Full Moon in Virgo which is all about action and chasing your dreams making it the ideal time for taking risks and reaping the rewards.

No matter the phase of the Moon, here is a complete 5-step guide for a Moon Ritual that is certain to bring your mind, body, and soul, in alignment to better connect with the UNIverse and the energy of the divine.

  1. A spiritual bath

The body isn’t the only aspect of your being that requires cleaning. Tears are a form of emotional cleansing, meditation is a form of mental cleansing, and a spiritual bath is just that- a form of spiritual cleansing. Yes, we exist in many realms and many dimensions at any given time, so it’s important that we take heed to the needs of our existence on all of these platforms. Begin with a clean tub, pool, bucket, or whatever vessel you can use that will allow you to submerge your body in water (if you do not have a tub, a shower is just as effective. Remember it’s all about intention). Set the space with scents. Scents are important because they teach associative learning, which is linking an event or item to an experience. Scents in this case will be used to ignite the feeling of calm and groundedness whilst cleansing the spirit. Some Earthy ones are frankincense and myrrh or sandalwood. Incorporate music. Music is one of the most powerful energy movement tools as it is simply a cluster of vibrations. 639 Hz frequencies is most closely related to the heart chakra and is known for attracting love, enhancing communication, and enabling harmony and healing. Other items could include unscented candles, smudge sticks, and crystals. Lastly, additives into the bath water such as Epsom salt to draw toxins from the body, essential oils such as cedarwood or patchouli, and other herbs such as rosemary, cinnamon, or basil. While you are in the tub take deep breaths to encourage relaxation, say mantras, prayers, and/or affirmations in order to set positive and mindful intentions, and focus on doing nothing more than simply being.

  1. Yoga

Doing a short yoga practice helps to expand the newfound energy, encourages elasticity, strength, and balance, and improves blood flow throughout the body.

  1. Journaling

Our minds are frequently sourcing. Journaling offers clarity by way of organizing thoughts. Journal you feelings, thoughts, goals, growth, and any thing else as it freely come to mind. Some intentional journal prompts can be: What emotions and thought patterns do I want to release? What limiting beliefs do I want to let go of? What am I manifesting in my life right now? What does my heart truly desire? What does my soul need to move forward? Write a welcome letter to all of your beautiful dreams, desires, and manifestations. Write a goodbye letter to anything that no longer serves or supports your well-being. Journal freely, candidly, and honestly. Remember you are talking to yourself, what do you want to say?

  1. Meditate

Meditation is the habitual PRACTICE of training your mind to redirect your thoughts. Redirect in a way that allows you to release them to the UNIverse so as to not identify with them, become them, or attach to them. Think of your thoughts as fleeting cars on a highway. There’s no way you can stop traffic on a highway and jump into a car. Your thoughts are these cars, do not try to jump into and become a part of these thoughts. Rather acknowledge them and allow them to move forward as you move on. Meditation. isa way to bring awareness to your thought patterns, to see what kind of narratives you are feeding yourself. Meditation is the practice of being.

  1. Pray

Lastly and most certainly not least, pray. Prayer is a conversation with self and the God that lives within our Spirit. God is the manifestation of creation. The Spirit of creation. Energy. It’s a lot easier to pray when you innerstand it as a conversation with yourself. It may feel a little awkward at first, but closing your ritual with a simple thankhful prayer will solidify and amplify all of the precious and exciting new energy that you just invited into your being.

This ritual guideline can be applied to the new moon and the full moon. Remember the purpose of ritual is simply intention! Identify your intention, and if it isn’t one that ignites you, shift it. Do more investigation on different kinds of rituals, and more importantly do a lot more probing of yourself. Figure out what works best for you, what makes you feel the lightest, what makes you feel the most hopeful, and what fills you with positive energy on days that you would rather curse the world. Lavish in these notions and allow them to be your compass as you navigate through healing and spiritual awakening.
