Fenty Skin Review: This Popular Skincare Line Didn’t Work for Me

As a fan of Rihanna’s many ventures, I was eager to try Fenty Skin. With countless celebrities and influencers praising the products, my excitement was high. I have combination skin: oily in the morning, dry after cleansing, with textured areas and dark spots. I hoped Fenty Skin would address these concerns.

Unfortunately, my experience was mixed. I purchased the Fenty Skin Travel Size Start’r Set, which includes the Total Cleans’r, Fat Water toner, and Hydra Vizor moisturizer. Let’s dive into the details.

About the product

First off, the packaging is stunning. The lavender bottles are sleek and exude a sense of calm and reliability. The gravity bottles ensure you can use every last drop. The products themselves are pink, a departure from the white hues of my usual skincare. However, my primary issue was the fragrance. While the scent was pleasant, it was overpowering, particularly in the Hydra Vizor moisturizer. It left my face smelling heavily perfumed, which felt overwhelming.

Fenty Skin’s Total Cleans’r is formulated with a blend of Barbados cherry, which is rich in Vitamin C, and green tea, known for its soothing properties. This cleanser claims to remove impurities and brighten the complexion. However, the strong fragrance and the product’s formulation didn’t work well for my sensitive, combination skin.

The Fat Water toner combines the benefits of a toner and serum. It contains niacinamide to help reduce dark spots and smooth skin texture, and it’s designed to minimize the appearance of pores. The formula also includes witch hazel and cactus flower extract, which aim to balance oil production and improve skin clarity. Despite these beneficial ingredients, I found it didn’t suit my skin’s needs.

The Hydra Vizor moisturizer boasts a hydrating blend of hyaluronic acid and glycerin to lock in moisture. It also includes niacinamide to help even skin tone and improve texture. While these ingredients are generally beneficial, the product’s strong fragrance and my skin’s reaction made it less effective for me.

Overall

Beauty products often require time to show results, and stopping them can undo progress. However, not every product suits everyone. It seems Fenty Skin may have been crafted with a different skin type in mind. While the products look and smell good, they didn’t quite fit my needs. I wouldn’t say that it damaged my skin in any way, it simply didn’t improve it in the ways I’d hoped for. And so I’m back to exploring other options for my skincare routine!
